May weddings in Maine I think are the absolute best. Really- I don’t think much else beats it.
This was the first thing I ever shot in Maine- as I drove over the boarders from New Hampshire after my month long road trip across the country I went straight to the wedding venue.
I saw a Facebook Post for second shooting that came up last minute and thought- well that lines up perfectly for when I will be crossing over into Maine. I didn’t even have to drive down from my family camp.
The wedding was the first big wedding I had ever done from start to finish. I had second shot a wedding with my boss back in the fall that previous year but left after the ceremony. To put it lightly, I was so excited.
It was raining and so the ceremony was moved from the outside into the barn- hence why people are standing in a space clearly not big enough for the event. It was a great look into the fact that weddings are events and don’t always go according to plan.
Thankfully later it stopped and we got to take portraits of the couple out in the fields. I mean talk about a breathtaking venue. The old yellow house and the big center tree is so picturesque. The sun even came out later towards golden hour which was perfect.
We had so much fun at this young hearted vibrant wedding. The couple was down for a good time and it showed in their pictures. Willing to try anything and a little sloshed made the perfect recipe for some once in a lifetime photos.
So if you are reading this and don’t know when to get married- choose May. There aren’t as many wedding in Maine then as the peak wedding season is the late summer/fall.
Oh and if I didn’t mention, I would be honored to be the one capturing your day.
