What does a photo student in person session look like? This. One of my absolute favorite things about teaching is not only having my students learn new information that helps them understand business better but getting to go out and shoot. Seriously, like how fun is this?
Also, family sessions with older kids doesn’t have to be painful and awkward. The key is to let your kids be kids. Even if they are teenagers. Deep down we all want an excuse to be silly and playful. Plus I am making them so if they can “buy” in and get over themselves they won’t be embarrassed.
It also helps going to a desserted beach in April. Yeah this is April. I am from California and spring starts in March. So if you are a Mainer I get why you would want to wait for photos. But let me say that mid may is already such a huge contrast. The leaves really start to bloom then.
Also insider note about this session, it rained on the way there and it rained right after. But thankfully God let the sky part for our session and held off on the rain. This family is a dear family at my church. Hannah makes bread that I buy every other week. And I went over to learn how to french braid hair.
I always try to pick people to model that have been in front of the camera before and are super down for anything. You know, chill- as it can be intimidating for some of my students. Especially if it is their first time. Well let me say the Wiley family did amazing. And I can’t wait to photograph them again.
So if you are a photographer- book that mentor session because I promise you won’t regret it. And if you are a family that hasn’t had photos in a decade- I also promise it is worth it. They don’t just have to be a thing you do for the little stage. This stage deserves to be documented too.
Also PS if you see this and reference it on your inquiry I will give you a 50% discount for booking a session taking place in January – April as you know in Maine is everyones slow season. You could get a randomly sunny day or some epic snow photos. I promise it will be a fun worthwhile time!
Thank you for always supporting my business, reading my posts, and sharing my work. I know not everyone can make the time or money sacrifice in every season of life so even these “small” things are big things to my “big” small business. Thank you. Also can’t believe I am still blogging consistently.
