This might be my favorite engagement shoot ever. And that is saying a lot. Because I have had some pretty awesome ones- notably my first with my friend Allie & Cam back in 2018.
This was four years later in 2022. I drove all the way to the Massachusetts and back for this one session. That is right like 7 hours in the car for an 1.5 hr session. Wild. I was just trying to get work here.
I loved the park and city landscape. A unique backdrop that you don’t get in Maine. What is awesome about New England is the history. The closeness of the states. It is really different than the west coast.
So why book an engagement shoot? Well for starters you get to have a plethora of photos for save the dates, wedding invitations, wedding websites, picture frames at reception, hang in your house, and such!
Not only for social media posting- although that is there too. You also get to have photos to document this moment in time. Trust me- things change. This sweet beginning season of love should be saved.
It is also a great way to get comfortable in front of the camera. It may be your first professional photoshoot ever- and if not, most likely your first together. Sometimes it takes time to open up!
You want to see if you vibe check with your photographer. Do you love the photos you got? Do you like the way the actual session went? It is important that your personalities click- check the vibes as they say.
Now what to wear and where to shoot? I always suggest picking a place that is special to the both of you! A first date or place you said I love you. It will make you feel at home and the photos will reflect that!
I also suggest a casual look and a formal look- ie a dress and jeans normally. But of course you can do two formal looks or two casual looks. That will be up to interpretation as everyone is different.
So there you go. I really do love blogging even if it feels like a chore sometime. I don’t really know if it is doing anything for my website, my views and my bookings. So if it impacted you – let me know!
