Questions to ask when deciding to propose to your girlfriend:
First off evaluate her personality! Does she really value her family and friends to the point that she would want them there either watching or in the other room. You can value your family and friends but you may be more private or introverted. This is a big one!
Is she into social media? The theatrics of it all. This isn’t supposed to come off negatively but does she want a set up or not? Aka are you having this big backdrop or just the natural space itself. Would she want to be all done up or is fine with an everyday look?
Do you hire a photographer? This is a huge one- I am obviously biased and would say yes. But it really depends on how much she (and you!) values photos. You can easily set up your phone on video pretending you are doing self timer or video if you do that a lot.
There is no right or wrong way to propose- everyone is different. However, there are things to help it go smoother. Lying is hard and that is essentially what you are doing to her. Surprising takes a lot of planning and coordinating so here are some things to do.
Say that you are going out to a nice dinner- some reason to celebrate. New job, new promotion, anniversary, valentines day, your birthday, her birthday. Something. That way she is dressed up for a reason and it isn’t out of the bleu.
This also helps with timing if you have a photographer- you have to have her ready by a certain time. Or you are going to this beach/park before dinner reservations for a nice walk/sunset stroll. That is what Dev did for Julianne.
They live in Portsmouth and like to explore downtown. They were dressed up for dinner later and planned to take a stroll around the boardwalk which is where I come in. We planned it so I would be in the area of the designated proposal spot.
I waited for my cue (very important part) which was them looking out at the ocean and him taking his sunglasses off. I then got closer and he got on one knee! What was really special about this is I couldn’t hear what he was saying.
I then said hello once they hugged and kissed! Said my congratulations to them both and starting taking engagement photos! We went all over the park having so much fun capturing their love! Such a sweet and precious moment!
That was my first ever proposal! I just did one this past weekend that I will blog about sometime! What is extra special about this one was that I am now going to do their wedding in 2025! It will be a full circle moment! So absolutely stoked for that!
Well, that is all for today folks! Hope you enjoy these photos and if you have any comments or questions let me know! I’d love to chat and work with you!
